WTF Wednesday - Manami Sato

Sigh...if I ever saw someone wearing these I would slap them!  That's how much I hate them...yes hate.  They almost look like they were made by a drunk blind person or like ballet flats gone terribly wrong.  The inside of the shoe has a normal pump shape so they are intended to be worn...but be warned steer clear of me in these.

Vera Meijwaard - Renaissance of the Abundance Collection

To call Vera Meijwaard a shoe designer would be a grave mis-categorization.  Her creations reflect the mind of an artist (in part because her shoes look like they have the wearability shelf life of 2.2 mins).  As it was intended to be the designs look futuristic and simply beautiful (though that eye on the inside sole is bit creepy - just saying).

Below you will find Meijwaard's collection displayed at the Fashion Future - Fashion Graduation 2012 at the ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in Arnhem, Netherlands from earlier this summer.  Meijwaard's took her inspiration for the collection 'Renaissance of the Abundance' from the cult of Mary worshipping.

I wish I was there myself but I wasn't so here is some insight from a fellow blogger that was able to view the collection first hand "[Meijwaard she created a shoe collection that is all about hyperdecoration and transformation. By converting elements of this cult to a new visual language the designer expresses her desire for this past splendor. Designing is for Vera Meijwaard a form of artistic expression with which she doesn’t compromise when it comes to portability. Her shoes are primarily designed as a source of inspiration, just as haute couture is for fashion." idontspeakvogue.com

It looks as if Meijwaard will breath new OTT (Over The Top) life into the shoe industry and I for one can't wait to see what else she has to offer.

Sculpted Giulia Tanini - Blue Ring

These sculpted Giulia Tanini scuplted wedges are truly a work of art.  I'm not sure if they are intended to actually be worn but *raises hands* I'll gladly test them out.

Blue Ring
Part of the Blue Ring collection 2011
"This shoe is named after a deadly octopus from the Pacific Ocean (Hapalochlaena Lunulata) that has large bright blue rings on its mantle. The intricate perforations for the upper were laser-cut and she then coloured the edges by hand. The wooden heel structures also resemble the texture of the octopus skin and have been made using a CNC milling machine. Due to their complex structure each heel took between 7 and 14 days to make!"  www.virtualshoemuseum.com

Like seriously?!?!?!

I really don't even know what to write.  The thought and look of these shoes is utterly ridiculous.  I keep trying to find some sort of justification for them in my head...it's just art, perhaps she didn't have a step stool and needed to reach the top cupboard, but nothing I can think of would reasonable warrant the creation of these "shoes".

I find myself secretly wishing she falls....just saying!

Charlotte Olympia - Daphne Platform Peep-Toe Pumps

I have vowed that I must own a pair of Charlotte Olympia's soon...it's on my 2013 shoe bucket list and I wouldn't mind accomplishing that with the Daphne pump.

I'm getting a  Elvira mistress of the dark meets Dita Von Teese vibe from these shoes; what do you think?

+

I'm sure it doesn't help that Olympia's insignia is a spider web but it all adds to the creepy halloweeny dark sexiness of the shoe.  So if you plan on privately tricking and treating with a special someone this Halloween check out the Daphne pump.

Pump features goat leather upper, red trim, red 5.5" heel, almond toe, leather insole, and 1.25" platform.  Retailed at $910 and available for purchase on My Theresa.

ALDO Ozbun

In the past I have heard many friends and passer by's complain over the comfort of Aldo shoes but that message must of made it's way up to the executive staff because over the past few years their shoes have been cute and comfortable.  I love the fall and I love the warmth of fall fashion and colors.  You can never go wrong with variations of caramelized colors in my opinion.

If you're looking for a nice and affordable pair of boots this winter check out what ALDO's has to offer especially these 'Ozbun' brown rust suede boots.  The 'Ozbun' has side zip closure, suede upper and belted straps, brass buckles, brass detail at top of heel, '5" heel, '6.6" shaft, and '1.5" platform.  This pair also comes in black leather and is retailed at $160.  Available for purchase at ALDO and Zappos.

Also, if like myself you like the rust suede color check out the 'Gavel' boot also from Aldo for $160.

These red suede closed toe mary jane pumps feature a round toe, leather sole, covered spiked '5.9" heel, and '1.6" platform.  Retailed at $1,050 and available for purchase at The Corner.

DinoShoes?!?!?

It's the return of WTF Wednesday and what better way to start it off with these "shoes".  They actually look cute in the front and may be a fun pair for Halloween.

Who thinks of these things...would you could you even wear?

CASADEI Queensuede Bootie

For those that don't know booties are a cross between a pump and a boot....in fact I think booties are the perfect fall shoe.  Whether you need to start your bootie collection or add to it the Queensuede bootie, with its feather leather almond toe front slit platform, from CASADEI would be a great addition to your closet.  The great thing about booties is they are a great transitioning shoe from summer to fall and winter to spring.  The baby blue color seen below isn't a "hot" choice per se for this fall but who cares!  I'm a firm believer in wearing what you love and feel comfortable in (within reason of course) so go for it (p.s. this color would also look lovely in the spring) AND if that doesn't work of course they also come in black.  : )

Do these Queensuede Booties make the fall cut?

Booties feature:

  • 5.75" heel (145mm)
  • Leather sole
  • Available in Black
  • Made in Italy
Retailed at - $835 ($880 for black)
Available for purchase at - Barney's

Kanye West - Giuseppe Zanotti Collab Again

Let me start by saying I'm a bit bias...you see I love Kanye's music and I LOVE most things Giuseppe.  So without even seeing these shoes I knew I would like them.  Kanye made his splash in the fashion world last spring with his debut DW collection for Fall/Winter 2012 during Paris Fashion Week.

This go around Kanye didn't partake in fashion week however he released a shoe with, oh so fab shoe designer, Giuseppe Zanotti.  The shoe is strategically named "Cruel Summer" and inspired by the G.O.O.D. Music collaboration album which was released last week.

No price point has been released yet for the shoes.  How much would you pay?

Cruel Summer - G.O.O.D. Music 2012

This is not the first time the two have collaborated; Kanye's notorious $6k shoes that were seen during the DW debut was the offspring of a Giuseppe collaboration.
